1984-91.
Formal study in developing the mind's potential
at School of Metaphysics, a 501(c)(3) non-profit
educational institute. Served as secretary
of Board of Directors and National Field
Director from 1987-91. supervising
educational instruction at locations in
Chicago, Detroit, Little Rock, Madison,
Des Moines, Tulsa and Oklahoma City.
1991. Began private practice offering
classes in Tulsa, OK utilizing mind/body
approaches for health. Founded Association
for Development of Mind/Body Potential,
a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization to research,
develop and offer complementary therapies
for the treatment of chronic illnesses.
Since that time has served as Executive
Director.
1993-94. Organized and directed pilot
study in cooperation with University of
Oklahoma Health
Sciences Center and Tulsa Regional Medical
Center for 27 patients with Multiple Sclerosis
utilizing a psycho-spiritual approach (see
published results).
1994-95. Directed and successfully
completed second developmental study for
16 patients with
M.S. utilizing psycho-spiritual technique
plus adjunctive therapies of chiropractic,
massage and nutrition.
1996-97. Developed and successfully
conducted a 24 week psycho-spiritual program
for cancer. (see presentations and abstract
in publications).
1998. Offered 12 and 18 week Mind, Body,
Spirit Programs for breast cancer survivors
at Saint Francis Hospital, Tulsa, OK.
1999. Created and presented workshops
entitled "Beyond Hospice" for
nurses and social workers
at Saint Francis Hospice, Tulsa, OK.
1998-2001. Developed and consulted
on research project evaluating a 12-week
Mind, Body & Spirit program for breast
cancer survivors, a collaboration with University
of Texas Medical Branch, School of Nursing,
Galveston TX, Saint David's Hospital, Austin
TX and Saint Francis Hospital/Warren Cancer
Research Foundation, Tulsa OK.
1999-2000. 12-week Mind, Body &
Spirit self-empowerment program offered
at UTMB as a special
topics course for elective credit towards
Ph.D. in Nursing. Program incorporated meditation,
visualization, guided imagery and dream
analysis.
2001. Masters Thesis "Beyond
Hospice", a therapeutic approach to
enhance the work with the dying.
2001-2003. Consultant to companion
dissertation projects at UTMB's SON, modifying
Mind, Body & Spirit program for at-risk
adolescents ("MPower Program").
Fall 2001, pilot projects implemented in
Galveston County Public School District.
2001-2002. Delivered 12-week Mind,
Body, Spirit Self-Empowerment Program to
Superintendents,
Administrators, and Principals of Galveston
Independent School District.
2002. Mind, Body, & Spirit Self-Empowerment
Program for Breast Cancer Survivors funded
by Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation,
Houston Affiliate, including a facilitator
training program.
2003. Implementation of 12-week Mind,
Body, & Spirit Self-Empowerment Wellness
Program at Houston Northwest Medical Center,
Women's Health Center.
2004. Mind, Body, & Spirit Self-Empowerment
Programs offered at Austin Community College.
2005. Funding received by Austin
affiliate of Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer
Foundation to provide services to breast
cancer survivors in Bastrop County.
